June 2006Since the end of apartheid, thousands of white South Africans have been forced into poverty. They blame the government's positive discrimination policies, which favour black employees.Twelve years ago, Afrikaners like Betsie Dreyer lived a privileged and cocooned life. Now, many are dependent on charity handouts. "We are fighting all the time to survive." The government is determined to see the workforce appropriately reflect the population. It gives black people priority in employment, sets 'black quotas' for businesses and favours companies owned by black people. But critics accuse the government of neglecting its responsibility to white citizens. As union rep Kallie Kriel states: "It's ironic that a government that fought racial laws is now doing exactly the same thing." |

| Dont know who is responsible for aids but its clear the africans and their culture are preventing any cures. They see condoms as a tool of oppression from the white man. Some witch doctors tell people to sleep with babies to cure them. South africas ex health minister advised everyone to eat beetroot to cure them from aids, Jacob zuma said it was impossible for him to catch it as he had a shower after sex. | Well to be honest, I'm only responding to inaccurate statement that incenuating that Africans are the reason for the virus. Now I knew that birds of a feather flock together, instead of correcting that person who made an ignorant comment you rather jump on me. I would like to give accurate information to somone who is trying to be offensive that is especially wrong. So why am I being scrutinized when his comment is without merit? |

| Please this is a black continent where blacks also suffer, like blacks around the world. I don't feel sorry because most whites have oppurtunities blacks don't have. NZ500D do your research Aids did not originate from Africa, THE FIRST CASE CAME FROM EUROPE. I hate when people think their race is superior. I don't have simpathy for this situation because many blacks suffer far more than whites. |
