| finally, an intelligent interpretation of punk rock's hypocritical ideology. its "cool" to be a non-conformist. But, the ultimate way to showcase this non-conformity is to take away your life? That's bullshit. Suicide should not be the ultimate goal of non-conformity. In contrast, ts continuing to plug through the bullshit of society and keep the masses educated. Joey R. and Joe S. did just that. They didn't take their lives for us, but rather represented us in their music. |

| Darby was a sad case but truly a punk rocker of his time. However I think the "idolization" of people like him and Sid Vicious is really overrated. Sure Sid was a punk-rock poster boy but his contributions are slight, same with Darby. Both met untimely deaths which is really sad. If I look up to any old punkers it's Joey Ramone or Joe Strummer, those guys fought for their art and overcame alot of shit. Darby and Sid let themselves become casualities. Sad for them and those that were close. |

| I was lucky enough to be around for the "early second wave"(for want of a better term) of L.A.punk.Shows seemed simultaneously tribal yet a free for all.Nowadays I should be clicking my dentures while wearing blue circle incontinence pants.Anyone else notice how most other old school punk(Ramones,Sex Pistols,Dickies) sounds kinda quaint by present day standards? These guys still sound capable of scaring the shit out of people though.Hence the movie, maybe. |

| This is true, but it wasn't so much about the music with punk rock as it was about the energy. Were some punk bands about the music too? Yeah, bu most were for the energy, the ideals, the let go and regain of it all. |

| well back before the band became adept at playing their instruments, darby said that if they were gonna sucky band, that they would be the worst band ever. and as time passed the band members became better and i guess darby wanted to keep his vocals the same. plus thats one of my favorite types of punk rock vocals |

| oh yeah,and his lyrics are good,but they are awful live,the band is good live,but darby just didn't give a fuck.i mean yeah, its cool that he is beyond caring,but at the same time,if there was a germs cover bandwho actually tried to learn the cdand play it verbatim to the recording,that would be pretty epic if you ask me. |
