Our family knows personally how overwhelming and frightening the experience can be for everyone involved from beginning to end as our son Ben was diagnosed with cancer in 2005. We saw many children valiantly face challenges of social isolation, emotional distress and lack of physical activity. We also learned from the experts how childrens lives are unfairly jeopardized as childhood cancer research goes under-funded. With this knowledge, we are choosing to make a difference for all kids touched by cancer by founding KIDSSTRONG. KIDSSTRONGs mission is simple: To transform the quality of care and treatment of all children and families touched by cancer. Our goal is to blend high-tech with high-touch strategies to address the current gaps in comprehensive childhood cancer care and treatment such as kid and family friendly psychosocial supports, easy to use information navigation tools and patient registration providing community support and long term epidemiologic studies on cancer survivors.
